Other things to do outside Makerfaire San Fran

So it dawned on me that I should have brought this up before. You guys who are in San Francisco for the makerfaire, if you have time, I would suggest going by Jelly Belly. They are in Fairfield and give tours of their factory and how the Jelly Belly is made. My in laws live there & I have been a couple times. My in laws go there a lot & for occasions for birthdays or Christmas they will buy Belly Flops. https://www.jellybelly.com/california-factory-tours

Additionally if memory serves me right there was brewery/bottling tour not far away either.

Another Maker-y place to visit in Palo Alto, the Computer History Museum: http://www.computerhistory.org/ The family spent the whole day there last year. Has two demo labs. One for the IBM 1401 (punch cards), another for PDP-1 (which I know nothing about).

Golden Gate National Park Conservancy has outdoor engineering models illustrating the principals behind the bridge’s design. Plus the bridge is hike-able. No parking to speak of; use the free shuttle from the Presidio. http://goldengatebridge.org/visitors/whattodo.php

Oh…and do you want to see how the cable car system runs? Learn & watch the machinery work, see the underground cables in operation. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g60713-d104939-Reviews-Cable_Car_Museum-San_Francisco_California.html

If you like vodka, Hangar 1 is an excellent microdistilled one made across the bridge in the shipyards in Alameda and you can take a tour.

If you visit South San Francisco, Armstrong Brewing Co. is my sister-in-laws nephew’s place. Little hole in the wall place that brews their own beer. Really good hard cider, too.
