Orientation Questions

Hi! I just joined and I’m excited to take part in the dallas makerspace. I just have a couple general questions on getting started

  1. Online classes- I heard there were asynchronous classes for some areas that I could take to get access to certain tools. Where can I access these? Currently I’m working on housing for an electronics project and I would like to get certified for the laser cutter
  2. discord! I would like to join. If anyone would be so kind as to share the link :smile:

There is a new member orientation. Check Calendar.dallasmakerspace.org this and a whole lot more is covered there.

then what’s it called? There is no new member orientation as such on the calendar.

@mrjimmy and some

It is called new member orientation. I think all the teachers have been a bit busy of late. Normally there is one about once a week.

I just checked it looks like all the teachers have been busy. I will see if I can get something for this week is there a time that works best for you and I will see if I can schedule around that. However Saturday is completely out for me next week.

That’d be great. My availability is just outside of working hours- I’m free after 5 on weekdays and on weekends. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for it

Let me shoot for Wednesday then that will work best for me.

A copy of this should have arrived via email upon joining.

It contains several nuggets, including the link to Board-run Discord

and where the online classes are housed:

Hope this helps.

I set up the class for Wed at 7PM. It will take a day or two to show up on the Calendar so keep your eyes out for it.

Will do, thanks

Will these orientation courses becoming reoccurring again? I joined today, but could not find any orientation coursework on the event schedule

Yes we only have a few trainers and so we are working to get a more regular rotation.
