We used to have a local guy with a U1300L Single Cab at the Makerspace…this extended Doka would make a great trailer towing vehicle and carry the entire motorsports crew to a race!

Unimogs are soo cool. I’ve always dreamed of a Volvo C303 for the baby portal axles.
I think that would be a hilarious tow vehicle and if we left right now we might even make it to the race by the 3rd.

The Unimogs of this era had several crown and pinion ratio choices plus gear ratios. The more sought after are the “high speed axles” for getting up to 70mph.
The U1300L we took out to Bridge the first time with the stock tires maxed out in 8th gear at 54mph (good thing it was a Sunday). The next time larger US Army MRAP tires were on it, the top speed was a more respectable 68 mph.

I have a truck at home with (RGBs) or “portal axles” that compared to a Unimog 1300 look “really small” …
