Bottom Line
There is a chance of freezing rain in parts of North Texas Sunday night into Monday morning which could result in slick bridges and overpasses for the Monday morning commute.
Overview:
- Rain will overspread most of the region Sunday night, while temperatures fall as low as 29-30 degrees in parts of North Texas.
- There’s a 20% chance freezing rain accumulates as far south as the I-20 corridor and areas west of U.S. 281.
- Surface roads would likely not be heavily impacted, but bridges and overpasses may be able to accumulate ice resulting in hazardous travel.
- Temperatures will climb to near or above freezing later Monday morning while rain continues, and this should result in quick improvement/melting of any icy conditions that exist.
- Rain chances Sunday evening and night may impact the ability to pretreat roads; however, rainfall amounts during this time should be less than 0.10”.
