There are some key things missing here…
No mention of my concern w/ Group Charter and transparency.
No mention of Kris’s paying of members dues using checks or cash.

You are welcome to add to the notes. This wasn’t a board meeting that required minutes.

There’s no conspiracy, I was talking during that time and neglected to take notes. I’m not so good at multi-tasking that I can take coherent notes and keep up with a conversation and try to keep up with whose turn it is to speak.

Do not know the specifics as I was not there for the meeting but the rule was changed recently:

https://dallasmakerspace.org/wiki/Rules_and_Policies#Membership_Dues

All dues are paid in advance and are recurring. Check /cash [4] is accepted only for yearly memberships.

We only changed the part about paying with cash, it is my understanding that the rule about checks has been a rule for a long time. From memory, I thought Kris mentioned at the member meeting that she was going to submit an agenda item to change the rule. I don’t personally have anything against checks and I’m happy to discuss a rule change.

A workaround for members who want to pay for other members is the BlueBird American Express debit card. As long as it is reloaded at Wal-Mart in person, there aren’t any fees.

Someone (forget who) told me about this when I wanted to use PayPal, since PP is incompatible with our billing system.

One of the American Express Serve cards can be loaded for free with cash at Wal-Mart, CVS, and likely other retailers as well. I’ve had ~$30 sitting on mine for the better part of a year and there are no fees in Texas.

I meant reload fees, but that’s good to know! I hate it when a dormant account loses money to fees.

Thank you for the notes you did provide, @Julie-Harris. It’s helpful for those of us who couldn’t attend.

The American Express Serve FREE Reloads card is a good deal for TX residents that just want a means to spend cash electronically:

I don’t recall if there was an upfront cost associated with the initial purchase or not - if there was I want to say it was extremely nominal along the lines of $5 but I’ve slept since then.

No conspiracy implied. There were a lot of topics and discussion. Overall a very good mtng.
