I’ve seen increased interest in using the vinyl cutter. At the CA meeting we will discuss replacing the machine with an upgrade with upgraded software. We wouldn’t pull the old one out of the room for around 3 months until people were adequately trained on the new one. It’s just an idea we are going to vote on because of the price.
I’ve been talking to @Adam_Oas about doing a vinyl2.0 class with heat press (he’s a busy man) and @mreynolds about doing a vinyl 2.0 class by using the vinyl in conjunction with the sandblaster (he is also busy so just be curiously waiting)
In the meantime I’ve ordered some new types of vinyl and they will be at DMS shortly:
- Oramask 813 - this is to use for masks as in disposable one use barriers for painting and sandblasting. This was suggested by @Nick and I know a few people have been using the sandblaster to create things so it should help. When it comes in please set it aside from the regular vinyl.
- Colors - pink (to mark things for CA seriously I hate pink just to let you know it’s just so we can identify things that belong to CA) yellow and red
- Printable Metallize Vinyl I ask that you wait to let someone experiment with the epson printer who knows how to fix it if all hell breaks out before we open this up to public usage. The idea behind it sounds really interesting - so I felt it was worth experimenting with.
Cost is still $2 a a foot to use, please pay for what you use. We have tons of scraps that I would like to use up in the paper drawers.
