I am a bit confused. First off, I was looking for an area in my DMS login account and settings for any list of tools I am currently approved on. I was not able to find anything such listing. How would I find out without walking around and swiping my card on different machines?
Part 2 of my confusion are the changes to some classes that now require more basic safety prerequisites. If I have taken a class in that shop before and have some, but not all, tool approvals, do I now need to go back and take the basic safety class to add another tool approval?
For instance, in the Metal Shop, I took the class for MIG/TIG welding earlier this year, but at the time safety instruction was done in the first 30 minutes of class time. Now I want to add plasma cutting, but there is a hot metals safety class prerequisite. Am I grandfathered past that requirement or do I need to take the safety class before the plasma class?
FYI, I am not disagreeing at all with the splitting out of the safety classes, but I just need clarification on being grand-fathered past that class or not.
There was an online system where you could login and see what AD groups you were in (which correlate to which tools you can use) but I think it’s offline currently. @Team_Infrastructure may be able to help with that.
You need to take the Hot Work Safety before you take the Plasma class. The older “welding safety” didn’t cover the safety related stuff in the plasma usage, and the LOTO stuff as well.
If you catch an instructor of the safety portion, who has taught both classes in the past and if the instructor is willing to give you the differences between the class you took and the class today you could go that route, but if it were me I’d just take the class again.
Your welding sign offs are still good, but we’ve got one or two new welders since you were signed off so either read the manuals or have one of the weld instructors show you what’s up on those.
With the old scan your badge here kiosk being missing/moved/torn down, you could login to the jump server and check your active directory groups using the Users and Computers tool. If that’s greek to you, then Infrastructure people might be more helpful.
I’m fairly certain that it has moved to the new community room. It was there last I saw, which was admittedly a week or so back. This is an onsite-only thing though.
thanks @malcolmputer. Got in via RDP and found my profile in Active Directory. I now see why DMS does this, but I have a MCSE and i still had to scratch my head a few times to find this the first time. (-;
If you go to the Common Room from the galley, the end of the table grouping next to the women’s restroom has a kiosk at the end next to a display of rfid tag options.
You can use your RFID tag to swipe he kiosk thing, and it should provide your AD groups.
