Need help replacing a USB port on a controller

Hi. I need to hire someone to replace a USB port on a controller for a laser engraver. Can someone help sometime tomorrow (7/10) after 6:00 or Saturday morning? Feel free to text me at 972-693-6860 or email at [email protected]

Thanks,
Manny

Am I addressing this to right group? Can’t believe there are no replies with at least where to go for a USB port replacement.

I think its just too early in the day. Different groups are active at different times, and I feel like the Electronics guys are more afternoon-to-evening kinda folk. They also may be at work atm.

Thanks. So at least I am in right category.

Manny,

Can’t believe there are no replies with at least where to go for a USB port replacement.

Shaun is right as replies vary by shift window and day of the week and some things just get plain overlooked. Only about 20 % of members even use the Talk board (some more than others) and I get ignored on a regular basis; it’s nothing personal.

Am I addressing this to right group?

The Dallas Technical Telepaths are a separate Meetup Group.

It would probably help if you were more specific in your request.

Are you asking someone to help you disassemble something and unsolder / resolder another USB port at the physical connector level? Is the controller card already out and ready to fix? What is this that you are working on? Roughly how long do you estimate this will take - 5 minutes / 5 hours? A model number and/or picture of the total scope of work in question would be helpful and more likely engender a viable reply as it gives an idea of how involved and what equipment is needed to accomplish what you need.

When you discuss “hiring”, it might be good to throw out a number range and also what paperwork is involved. Is there an NDA, hold harmless clause, (in case the repair is botched or there is another issue with the controller) and so forth.

Thanks and nothing that fancy. Controller board is out and just need
physical Mini USB port replacement. I have pictures on my phone so I’ll
have to text to whoever is interested. It’s for a Full Spectrum 4th
generation laser. One of my friends had similar project couple of years
ago and a cell phone repair shop did the replacement while he waited. Hope
this helps.

PS: Not taking personally, just hoping to take care of this before I
travel to New Jersey on Sunday.

I had an electronic shop look at it and found the port to be working. So that’s not the problem.
