Need help making a cut

I need to make a cut on an 8mm hex shaft, however, I have zero metal work experience and I don’t trust myself with a dremel to do this safely. I am writing to ask if someone would be willing to make this cut for me.

I need about 1 inch removed from a 5 inch long hex shaft, that is 8mm in width. This step is holding up a project. Suggestions on how to accomplish are appreciated.

I’ll be up there around 7:30pm tonight if that works for you, won’t take but 5 minutes to do.
