Whereas I have had some reservations about certain experiments and methodologies used on the show, I think it’s fair to say that the Mythbusters show has been an absolute smash hit in bringing the Maker attitude and the Sciences in general to a very broad audience. I for one will be sad to see it go, and would assume that like me, many of you have watched each and every episode.
It might be a good idea for us to attempt to publicize this information and to invite viewers of the show to come to the Makerspace in order to maybe watch the final episodes and get their own hands on experiences like we’ve seen the Mythbusers do over these past years.
That is really sad, there really hasn’t been any show like it on TV. I do feel like this last season lost something without the Mythbusters b-team, and all the themed episodes.
Luckily Adam and Jaimie do videos on Tested (https://www.youtube.com/user/testedcom) but obviously it’s not the same. I could listen to Adam and Jaimie’s talk about their adventures for hours.
I hope Discovery channel continues to do more science-based maker shows. It’s show like Mythbusters, Battlebots/Robot Wars, junk yard wars, etc that have inspired me to be a maker.
So sad to hear that. I love the show, it is entertaining and educational (perhaps one of the only shows Discovery has that is actually still educational). I do watch Tested, but it isn’t quite the same. I guess I will be watching more Youtube channels in the future (Tested, Minute Physics, Household Hacker, etc…)
I always liked “How It’s Made” on from the Discovery Channel on my TV. The sequences were around 10 minutes long and for many of the sequences I would think “I could do this at Makerspace”.
