Multicam weight Limits

I saw something online where you make a table out of a tree slab, but instead of keeping the live edge on the outside, you turn them in and pour colored epoxy between them. Since some of the tables are quite long and they are thick slabs of wood, is there a weight limit for what can be put in the multicam to essentially plane it smooth?

well my system at work has a single sheet of plywood as the base/spoilboard and I regularly climb up and walk on it so since the weight of the slabs would be more distributed it should be ok.

@bertberaht aren’t you big into the functional resin?

I have been doing that for quite some time. Many times I only partially fill with epoxy and top off with fire glass. Some examples:

As for weight, I’m pretty sure it will handle much more than you would want to support as a table top. I recently did a 60" round that weighed 186 lbs, but suspect a few have been heavier than that. Even so, you don’t often need both slabs on the table at the same time
