Would you like to learn how to make panels for cars? planes? boats? What about Armor? Or sculptures like Chicago’s famous Bean? These are all examples of sheet metal shaping. I have a lot of interest and some knowledge in Coachbuilding (hand building cars). I would like to eventually have a sheet metal special interest group here at DMS where we can discuss and experiment with making these shapes and the associated tools. I would like to get a group together of dedicated individuals to learn this craft and help build and maintain the equipment. Let me know if you are interested in taking a class or learning more.
Metal Spinning(as discussed in a different post) is also in this realm.
Well, this kind of comes right along the time that I’m about to fabricate a roll pan for my truck.
I would definitely be interested in working on some of these ideas because of course the first few things that spring to mind are custom t bucket bodies, T Bucket radiator supports, Lead Sled panels and Custom Classic Billet door inserts.
Maybe even motorcycle and Chopper seat pans and fuel tanks.
Is there a night of the week you guys would be able to meet? I want to do a formal intro to metalshaping class. I have had interest from other people as well but apparently they aren’t reading talk posts.
I will post a free class/basic training/meeting for next Thursday night at 7PM. I want to eventually have a lot more classes/discussions related to this craft. However, we need to get a group of people together who want to learn the craft and not just folks who want to take a class just to take a class if that makes sense.
Just I reminder that I put a class/event up on the calendar for this Thursday. Since no one who has replied to this thread expressing interest has signed up yet.
