Metal spinning (woodshop lathe demo)

For anyone interested, I plan on spinning metal on the powermatic lathe on Saturday 4/27 probably around 3pm depending on what comes up. I might be there earlier like 1ish if the weather is bad. I am a beginner so no promises on performance but you are welcome to try it out with me. From everything I’ve read you start by making lots of scrap metal before you make nice parts.

Materials that can be spun:
Pewter
Steel (mild/stainless)
Aluminum (certain alloys)
Copper
Precious metals:
Gold
Silver
Brass (cymbals are spun)

I will be demoing using 3003 aluminum because it’s relatively cheap.

Typical Shapes:
Pots/pans
Cups
Funnels
Urns
Bowls
Lampshades
Vases
Rocket noses
Candle holders…ect
