Dallas Makerspace is moving away from using the Wiki. It is being replaced by Confluence. The minutes of meetings are now posted there and can be accessed at source.dallasmakerspace.org.
Dallas Makerspace is also providing software called JIRA, with which some of you may be familiar.
As chair of the Metal Shop Committee I am attempting to integrate these packages int the operation of it. JIRA is available at tasks.dallasmakerspace.org.
An entry in JIRA is referred to colloquially by the cognoscenti as a ticket. I, as a neophyte, shall do the same.
Tickets are hierarchical, the top level being Epic followed by Story, Task and sub task., each comprising a group of subordinates. Tickets can accommodate comments, links and attachments. Tickets may be linked conditionally, they may also be voted on; it should be noted that votes are in the affirmative only.
There are no restrictions on posting tickets. I would ask however that the tickets be actionable. A ticket saying “we need hand tools” is not “we need these tools followed by a list with a source and cost”, is. The latter spurs debate about the items, source and cost, upon which a decision may be made, explained and implemented.
I have been assigning tasks that have been completed to the people that completed hem. When you undertake a task please generate a ticket for it and assign it to yourself.
By Dallas Makerspace rules decisions are made in committee, the votes posted in JIRA are not binding, but do serve to inform the committee.
Should you be one of the aforementioned cognoscenti please feel free to improve the METAL dashboard.
