Are there any plans to have a CNC metal lathe class or a standard metal lathe class?

There is a class for the Colchester(metal lathe) Saturday. You must compete the pre-requisite prior to signing up. That pre-requisite is at Learn.dallasmakerspace.org. Once you complete the pre requisite we can add you to the ad if it isn’t automatically working.

Once you take the manual lathe class, you can take the CNC lathe class as manual is a pre-requisite for the CNC lathe.

When is the next CNC Lathe class? I have already taken the manual lathe class and am signed off for the manual lathe.

Hearing that there is interest in the cnc lathe , in will get a Tormach 8l class up on the calendar when I get some time to do so .

Hello, I am a recent ME grad with experience using both manual mill and lathe in need of a place to work on a personal project and I wanted to see what the process is for signing up here at DMS and getting approved to use y’all’s machine shop (spec manual lathe for now).
It’s kind of a tight timeline as I would like to get it finished by the end of June so I need to see if it’s possible to get approved to work here and get it done by then.

@BobKarnaugh is our sign-off man. He might want you to take the online lathe class and mill class on Learn. You can find Learn as one of the drop-downs under the Member Portal. Main website, top right. If you’re already familiar, they should be easy-peasy.

Via pm when you have the online modules complete .

I took a quick look at your profile, and you haven’t been here long enough for Talk/Discourse to let you send PM’s. One way to correct that is to go to the Read This First message, And Interact With The Bot. All those interactions will move you up to Basic, which allows you to send PM’s.
