Member Exchange (Freebie Shelf) BoD Approval

Probably a question for @Cairenn_Day, @Raymond, Dan Gallagher, and maybe @Bill.

Is the formation of the Member Exchange Committee planned to go before the board this month, or next month?

Bill and I discussed this some this afternoon and
we feel that we want to lock down the rules for it
and for disposal of hazardous items first, We
want to make it very obvious that we have it well
thought out and planned,

I will be having another meeting before the next board
meeting, Any suggestions as to when we should have
it? What day, time etc?

Our meetings are great for brainstorming, discussion, and voting on decisions. But flushing out details like rules are probably best worked out by a small subgroup of dependable, dedicated committee members. Once we have something for the committee to vote on, then scheduling a meeting would be advisable.

We also want to avoid losing momentum created by the loss of the freebie shelf in the first place. If we wait too long, people may grow accustomed to the fact that its gone, it will become more difficult to get support, and those working against the project will become complacent.

Have we decided on who will be working out the rules?

The fewer rules the better… but we had already talked about having some and I think these are enough. We can amend as needed, but this list should already cover most things:

No tires, paint, chemicals, food waste, car parts, CRTs, or liquids.

That should be enough.

Time is ticking if is to be presented to the Board today. The worst that can happen is that the issue is tabled until the next Board meeting anyway.

It should be presented today.

I will see what I can do tonight, the official time may
has passed however, I didnt push it because I wanted
to see who would be onthe board, It often works
better when one can address certain folks concerns

There’s been a lot of updates to the board agenda today. If you’re concerned about enforcement of cutoff times, you might want to hunt down a Board member (new or old) that’s amicable to the project and ask for their help.

For all the stink people made this sure ran out of steam fast.

You are mistaken. We have been discussing this on other threads.

Things are still in the works, Luke. Please don’t be ugly or un-excellent. We’ve had enough of that over the last 2 months on Talk and at DMS.

If it got your attention, good. A little fire under people can be helpful. Hopefully y’all do something so we didn’t run off a core volunteer for nothing.

We’re discussing the Member Exchange committee at the next Logistics Committee Meeting this Sunday, April 30th.

For those of us who are working on the Member Exchange committee, it may be possible to get an informal head start with the right support. So please make a point to attend this Sunday.

I was not able to be at the meeting on Sun because I had a show,
The fee for this show was paid before Christmas, maybe some folks
can afford to lose almost $50 and a guarantee loss of even being
considered for it in the future. Maybe some folks skip out on
their obligations, but I don t,

There was a reason I reacted strongly to your assertion in the the
meting I was holding that "I wouldnt follow through’ on keeping the
new shelf free of non approved items,

It is being discuses in other threads and since it is the member that want
it and will need to help in maintaining it, it is important that their concerns
b e addressed in its design and plans/rules.
I will say this, with the changes in the Logistics committee, they have other
larger issues that need to come first

Member Exchange was barely mentioned today. Dan wants it to be a separate committee.

Ok, god to know, I will plant that way

Why the discrimination against car parts? If old crappy books and ancient electronics are fair game, why not these, too?

Maybe you missed that car parts were one of the huge complaints
on the old freebie shelf,
Please tell me a possible upcycle use for a 100 lb axle?
Maybe training a fighting pit bull dog? Realy!

Grinder stand, stripper pole, robot arm, javelin, etc.

Interesting how this is becoming a “selective” Freebie Shelf. Only stuff you think would be useful.
