At 6 pm EST 10/1/2018 there will be a Nationwide Webinar that Nation of Makers will hold to go over all the aspects of the American Made Solar Prize Challenge - Covering how to register as a competitor, to how you can get funding for your Makerspace or how to become part of the American Made Network to be eligible for Department of Energy Vouchers. The NoM Agenda for the Webinar will further explain the Solar Prize Challenge and the different ways to participate in multiple ways:
(1) Ideation and Innovation [Prize Challenge Participants] - Targeted towards increasing the participation of the maker/entrepreneur community in the Ideation and Ready! phases of the competition
(2) Connection [New Facility Resources] - Targeted towards increasing the participation of makerspaces and organizations with facilities and resources that can be shared with the Ready! Set! and Go! competitors.
(3) Investment [Investors] - Targeted towards partnership development including capital and in-kind investment in the challenge

If you are not able to be in the webinar - sign up on this email list - so that we can send you the YouTube Link for it and get caught up. http://bit.ly/WebinarNoMSolar

Here are the 3 Main Funding topics that will be covered in the webinar:

  1. Mobilize and Mentor Funding: Connectors/Makerspaces who significantly help a team during the Ready! Contest may receive $5000 for helping your members win the Ready! Stage, $10,000 for the Set! Stage, and $10,000 for the Go! Stage. (You are able to help multiple teams so this could really add up!) The absolute best way to be eligible for this is to get your members to sign up for the Solar Prize Contest on the HeroX website and make sure they list your makerspace as one of their connector organizations on their cover letter application: http://bit.ly/NoMSolarInfo

  2. DoE Voucher Funding: Register your Makerspace as a connector on the American Made Network to be visible to the winners so that they may use ⅓ of their voucher winnings at your Makerspace for things like membership/space dues, training, development, equipment, prototyping, services, etc.

  3. Boost Rewards: Top three Connectors/makerspaces that raise the most funds can earn payments from a pool of $200,000 (3 payouts - $100k, $60k, and $40k) for their Makerspace by successfully boosting financial support for the competitors individually or for the Solar Prize generally. Must raise a minimum of $100,000 to be considered.

I appreciate you taking the time to read through all these opportunities, please do not hesitate to reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions.
