Starting this thread to continue what was a point of contention on another thread.

  1. If it isn’t yours and you don’t have explicit permission to use it, don’t touch material at DMS.

  2. If you aren’t sure if you can use it, don’t. Post on a forum or ask the committee chair who it belongs to.

  3. There are designated areas for scrap or donated materials. Materials not left in these areas and not labeled with your name/number will be subject to disposal or moved to these areas.

  4. Several committees have committee use materials (either for classes or infrastructure). Taking these materials without permission from a committee chair is theft and will be treated as such.

This is a very serious topic. Members invest a significant amount of money in materials. Even if the item is small, don’t assume it is trash. This offense is a very quick way to lose your privileges in a committee area.
