As a reminder, in our standard committee meeting on the 23rd, we will have our chair election. This meeting will NOT be in the Lecture Hall this time. Someone beat me to the punch for the room.
If you feel that you do not like the way I have run things, Consider running for chair.
What does the chair do?
- Gather/convince people to volunteer to help
- Host monthly committee meetings, Machine Shops are usually very well attended. 15-25 people is not out of the ordinary to have show up.
- Order tools, consumables & similar items.
- Clean up after folks who fail to that task
- Follow up with potential disciplinary action should the situation warrant it.
- Being a Committee/SIG cheer leader, not as easy as you think.
Time commitment, it typically takes 10-20hrs a week to keep things running smoothly. Added vice-chairs help with all the previously mentioned to spread the load.
With that said, I’ve been very lucky to have @BobKarnaugh & @procterc as vice-chairs.
