I think 45 is good… I guess to account for shrinkage and get it as close to 9x17 as we can, maybe do 10x18? I don’t know which clay I would use yet… I might try a couple actually, to see which makes it through without cracking the best… But they would still be anywhere from 12-14% shrinkage… I think either way it would end up with maybe 1/2" in either direction. What are the dimensions of the kilns? Would they even fit something 18" long?

The older kiln is… um… over 20" diameter. I measured it long ago. My brain is trying to tell me 24", but I’m not inclined to go measure and I’m not sure.

So, since the new kilns look bigger, they should be wider, by at least a couple of inches.
