I am looking for connectors that can pass 3-6 signals at low voltages, but that are available for panel mount. I have used DB9’s in the past, but am wondering if there are other styles that may be more appropriate. Any suggestions?

Yep, used those, but looking for shorter connectors. Ideally, I would love panel mount IDC headers.
RJ45 or 8p8c connectors, cheap, easy to connect and widely available, just dont use the EZRJ45 where the wires get cleaved at the end of the connector
