I make aluminum wedges and I am trying to get a better finish on the end product. I have a picture of not finished, vapor honing from the metal shop and an end product that I am trying to make my product the same as. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
I suggest anodizing. Assuming you don’t care about dimensions.
What kind of finish are you looking for?
The slightly curved brushing on the third one you posted makes me think that it was hit with a wire wheel (a gentle one given that it’s aluminum, mind you.) You could probably achieve something similar with a Dremel and the right attachment, I would think.
The third one that is shiny is the one that I am looking for. I might try the wire wheel. Sorry pictures probably don’t do it justice
Thanks! I tested the wire wheel and it came out perfectly for what I was looking for. Sometimes just takes another set of eyes and outside thinking to figure it out.
Scotch bright will make it shine up. If you want a mirror finish, you could take it up in sand paper grits all the way to lapping.
