Location of scroll saw blade

Any hints as to the location of a blade for the Excalibur jig saw?

They are usually zip tied to the side of the machine or they are in the basket in the back corner near the table saw blades.

Cough cough… Scroll saw. Just make sure your looking for scroll saw blades & not jigsaw blades. Just wanted to clarify, not trying to be an ass.

Thanks for the clarification. I had a feeling I was using the wrong term; hence the reason I included the picture. The scroll saw worked well but I had a tough time keeping the blade locked in the set screws. When pulling the tensioner the blade would slip, some times on top, sometimes on bottom. Sure seemed like I was missing something basic in how to lock the set screws. Each time I set the blade it took a couple of tries to get it to stay tight. I was cutting interior holes so I needed to remove the blade between cuts.

This review video shows pretty nicely how to work the blade change, if this helps…

:slight_smile:Yah. that’s exactly what I did about 10 times. One online discussion recommended roughing the blade with 220 grit sandpaper. Another person seemed very dissatisfied with the saw for this exact same reason. Still another described how the exact setting of the Allen key set screws was important. Sounds like those need loctite after precisely setting them so they don’t move under vibration. If I need to use it again I might take a look at these things.

I used it over the weekend, didn’t see any blades, but I had brought my own. I was able to install and tension the blade pretty well, it seemed to have a secure grip. I watched a video similar to the one above. There was a little more table vibration than another machine I had used previously, but as long as I held my piece firmly, it cut fine.

It wasn’t vibration. The machine was just scared of you Katie and it was trembling…
