Lets update the Creative Arts Wiki

I think the creative arts wiki page could use some updating. I have started adding some information, but have only a vague familiarity with many of the things that go on in CA, so this calls for a group effort!

To Start I have added a link to the main CA wiki page for the Babylock embroidery machine as well as including links to manuals and other material for the Babylock and the Janome sewing machines. I have also created sub-wiki pages for the two Special Interest Groups under Creative Arts; leather and fiber arts. Where I can I have started adding material to these pages, but they could use some attention from those with more knowledge then I in these areas.

There are also many other tools/areas in CA that could use expanded information on the wiki. Things like the large format printer, the vinyl cutter, the die sublimation tools, etc… Ideally the wiki would serve as a perfect central location for information about suppliers, manuals, training materials, etc… This could significantly help new and prospective users get familiar with the capabilities in Creative Arts.

Here is the main wiki page

the Leather SIG page
https://dallasmakerspace.org/wiki/Leather

and the Fiber Arts SIG

So what do you’ll say?

I think it’s a good idea and long overdue, but I fear that we will be maintaining (or not - haha!) things in more than one place. There is a tools section of the wiki. I’d like to suggest that we update that and then link to it from the CA wiki. For one thing, we probably should separate out Laser and 3D from CA and then put the CA things into the tools wiki.

This wouldn’t cover everything that’s in your proposed CA page, but it would help not maintaining (some of) the same information twice.

For the list (and status) of tools I completely agree. But I would like to see much more additional information on the page. Things like sources for materials. Links to training, reference, tutorials on the web, etc… Something like we have on the machine shop wiki

Agree.
