Laser Consumables

  • The polishing system works really well. Great on scrap acrylic that lost its protective masking.
  • Goo Gone removes residue from engraved powder-coated tumblers better than any other compound so far.
  • CerMark is used to apply an image to a non-coated metal surface, such as stainless steel tumblers. Spray, then engrave. The laser bonds the black coating to the metal and the excess washes off with water. It’s $80 per can and goes a long way. We’re happy to be able to offer it to our members so they don’t have to buy a whole can for a small project. But you can understand that we keep it locked up. Follow the tips on sign re: how to get access.
  • The masking paper is 12-inches wide. So much faster to apply than blue masking tape over large areas. And you can still tear off thin strips for smaller areas. Definitely cheaper. The blue tape is expensive and comes out of everyone’s monthly DMS dues as a facility-wide consumable. Laser users pay for the white masking paper out of their usage fees. Press it on with the plastic squeegee for best results.

Happy Lasering!

Are you telling me this entire time people have been using 1 in blue tape to accomplish the same things the 12 inch roll can? Amazing! Tape usage is about to plummet!

I don’t think people mask off large areas, per se, because of the hassle.
Much quicker to sand off the soot.
They do use the blue tape for small areas. And definitely use it for taping down items.
So am not anticipating that tape usage will plummet. Alas.

The masking paper simply gives members a new option for small and large areas that doesn’t involve abrasion.
But the trade off (there’s always a trade off) is weeding the paper afterwards, which is a different kind of hassle if your design is intricate.

My favorite goo remover is lighter fluid. Pretty fast and easy.

Goo Gone is VERY hard on finger nails and leaves an oily residue. WEAR gloves and let it sit for a few minutes. Final cleaning with Windex.

Back in the good old days when everyone smoked, every household had a ready supply of lighter fluid. It was my parents’ stain remover of first resort.

I like what you guys are doing and how you’re growing

You showed everyone a path forward with your tenure at Creative Arts. I don’t think you fully understand the impact you’ve had. Its ripple effect still continues.

More like a mutual admiration society. Get a room!!

Or a Love Train.
In the immortal lyrics of Gamble and Huff…people all over the world (err, DMS), join hands because you don’t need a ticket to ride. And:

Please don’t miss this train at the station
'Cause if you miss it, I feel sorry, sorry for you
