KiCad Project - Question on Multiple PCBs

Hello all,

I’m in the middle of a project that will require multiple PCBs (a main board connected to several daughter boards). I have a basic schematic of the circuit drawn up, but I made it earlier under the assumption that there would just be one PCB. I haven’t gone on to PCB design yet, as I’m still figuring out the exact footprints for the components I’ll be using.

So my question is, should I have a separate project for each board, and then link them together somehow, or should I make a hierarchical series of sheets in one project, and then have all the PCBs in one project?

Each board must be a single project.

I usually do a ‘system’ level schematic for multiboard projects that ties them all together.

I understand that multi-board projects are a feature in the queue for future releases.
