Interest check: saddle stitching

Hey everyone, I was thinking about hosting a class where we could go over the basics of hand stitching leather, namely, learning the basic saddle stitch.

Anyone interested? I think a good project would be either a dog collar or a wallet. We would use a strap cutter, edge beveler, and burnishing tools for edges, then punch stitching holes (with chisels, since using pricking irons/a wheel with a diamond awl is a little more advanced). If making a dog collar, I can also show how to line up and punch holes for a buckle, bullet, and rivets. I don’t think we would have time to dye leather, but natural veg tan looks great anyway.

I can provide supplies and I think there are four stitching ponies. I’m happy to teach more students, but any more than four (I’ll bring my own) would need to bring their own stitching pony or clamp.

Any thoughts?

I’d be moderately interested. No current project plans, but a skill Id like to understand.

I have taught several saddle stitching classes and they are always well attended .

I’d like to attend a formal training. I’ve done leather stitching and I THINK I’m doing saddle stitch but I’d like to have someone who actually knows how to tell me if I’ve got it right.

Sweet! Y’all prefer weekday or weekend?

Cool! I’ve taught people in an informal setting but I’d like to host a class to let me know if I’m doing it right

I’d love to take the class. Saturdays anytime or Sunday afternoon. Thank you!
