Interest Check - Laser cut inlaid veneer class

Any interest in a class on using the lasers to do inlaid veneers?

I’m thinking of doing a class where I’d go over the design issues to consider, creating a basic design
and then cutting it, and then having the class each glue up and take home a 4" coaster with a veneer
design top (most likely a Texas Star design).

Class would be scheduled first week or two in December.

Comments, questions, suggestions, interest?

I would love a class like this. I’ve been wanting to learn to do inlays.

Definitely interested as well!

I would sign up

I’m also very interested. I have no experience on the lasers. What level of knowledge would be required for this?

It’s up to Paul but I would suggest learning how to operate the lasers before class. You can do this by taking the online laser class at learn.dallasmakerspace.org. I’d also be happy to help you out if you feel like you need it the first time you use the lasers. Just send me a PM and schedule a time if you want to do that.

Veneer inlays sound amazing. I am interested in this and look forward to learning!

This, or a variation of this, is the design we will be making for the class. Photo is of a 2" square inlay that was done for a picture frame at work using walnut and maple veneers.
