Inquiries about the Cancelled Editing Class --> Digital Media Workstation Status

Hello DMS!

I have had several inquiries as to why the pilot editing class has been cancelled, and wanted to just post on talk for others who may ask.

Digital Media apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused, but our primary workstation has died. Unfortunately, this is the only workstation we have available to encode video footage. There is another computer in the Digital Media Room, but will not support the Premiere and After Effects needs.

The Digital Media Workstation died last Tuesday or Wednesday, and I purchased a replacement power supply. Once the power supply was replaced, we found that we were unable to get the video card and the USB bank to power up. I have placed a request on this month’s board meeting with the specs for a basic workstation that will comfortably render 1080P - 2k video footage.

That being said, any additional classes and DMS projects have been suspended until we get a viable workstation in place. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. To those of you who have been working on creating their content, I hope you are able to find workarounds in the interim.

Best,
Natasha
