This was discussed in a recent town-hall meeting. I get lots of questions about this, so I thought I would post a status update here. I have been in discussions with Brandon and Paige from Inheritance Machining about a collaboration with Dallas Makerspace. If you do not know about inheritance matching, check them out on You Tube. It is some of the best machining content on the web in my opinion. Brandon announced plans to do a “machining boot camp” where attendees would come and learn the basics of matching from Brandon. We will be one of his host sites for some of those events. In order to prepare for that bigger project, Brandon and Paige want to come down and see the machine shop and plan the curriculum. In order to pay for and facilitate that planning, Brandon will be coming to DMS to have a series of 3 hour classes on a weekend for DMS members. Some classes would be for beginners, others may be for more advanced machine users. These would involve class fees paid directly to Brandon and I do not yet know what they would cost. If you are familiar with his YouTube content, he knows his stuff. Also on the same trip, his wife Paige may offer a class in narrative story telling for social media using video editing. She films, edits and produces Brandon’s videos and they are stunning. She has a lot to offer. They are still planning and organizing, so I do not yet have a timeline for when the first DMS visit will be. Once I do, I will announce it and we can flesh out volunteers and class attendees.
We will also work with our social media subject matter team on the co-branding and social media collaboration with inheritance machining that will precede and follow this event.
