I need 2 volunteers to try out some stamps

Hello. I make embossing stamps/ makers marks for people that work in the leather business.
I am looking to expand my business and want to see if these same stamps would work for marking pottery.
I need two volunteers who create pottery or ceramics on a regular basis who would like to try these out on your wares. I will create a maker stamp of your choosing for you to keep/try. I just need feedback as to whether they work and if there is any problems that occur. the stamps themselves would be made from delrin plastic which is pretty slick material. It’s good up to 300 degrees although I assume they would be applied before firing. these wouldn’t be pounded in like in leather, so they should pretty much last forever. The depth of the impression would be about 3/32" which should be sufficient.

If you’re interested in trying, please message me and let me know how many you create, what should be on it and perhaps a size. It will be on 1.5" rod but I can resize to what you might need. cheers!

Oh, and I’m thinking these might work on soaps and candles, so if you know anyone that does that and is looking to try a stamp, please send then my way.

How small could you make this?

it depends on the design, but 1/2" is doable.

@dryad2b is this something you’d be interested in?

I have a potter friend back in Alabama that would likely be willing to give it a go. I can handle mailing/delivering it to him if needed.

I sent him an email to see. Here is his website:

http://www.blackkittypottery.com/

well he’s more the target professional I would like to see buy a stamp from me.
I would prefer to keep it within our little community, but if I don’t get any takers I’ll certainly
keep it in mind. cheers!

Nick, I’m an amateur potter and can pot a couple of pots to try if you like. As far as a stamp goes just make anything you like with “made by Dan Henderson” or just “Dan Henderson” in the stamp. I can pot these pretty much anytime. Just let me know. hender99 at gmail dot com.

Excellent. I’ll make something up this weekend

I’ll plan to pot some next week unless you tell me to wait. We will want
to use the stamp while the pottery is still pretty green.

Dan

If you just have a generic or two, we’re having a handbuilt pottery class Sunday 2 pm. That’d see if the stamps work without having to create a specific for someone.

Yes certainly. I am thinking of coming up tomorrow (Saturday) anc can stash a few in my storage bin for you to find. I’ll let you know.

I’ll make something up Sunday. I will be there weds and Friday and an leave it in my bin for you

hello. I left some stamps in my personal bin if you would like to try them. They are just some generic figures I had on hand. If it works out I’ll make you up a proper maker stamp. Just let me know the results. My bin is on the North wall right about the center. It is marked Nick Silva. thanks!

Nick made one of the stamps for me. This is what it looks like in leather.
I poured a cup this weekend and stamped it repeatedly with the stamp to test the impressions and the viability of using it with pottery.

I think the idea works pretty well. I’ll fire the cup and then glaze it and see what it looks like then.
Thanks Nick for the stamp.

Are you selling stamps yet? I would like something I could use for light metal tags for jewelry, stamping photos, and maybe leather or clay.

Looks like you’ve got a winner there.

hello Cindy. Yes, they are the same stamps from my website at www.lasered-stamps.com
however, they are a machinable plastic (Delrin) so would not be good for metals only for softer materials such as the leather or clay. Let me know if I can help with anything.

I’m super interested in this!!!

I’d love to see what you are making!!!

If they are still in my personal bin in the galley, there were a couple of stamps to try. Not very good subjects just what I had loose on hand that day. Feel free to grab them. Cheers!
