I was looking to compare the strength of some materials using it but noticed the dial has gone missing. Is it still functional and if so is there anyone who would be willing to give me a few pointers on how to use it?

The hydraulic press is fully functional without the pressure indicator.
However the hydraulic press is a tool not a materials test fixture - do not use it as one.
