Status is pretty much the same. Last time I inquired Landlord and insurance were being dealt with. Things probably won’t be changing much anytime soon.
What is the DMS environment like today? What is the HVAC/AC status? With the current temperatures @ 100 degrees, what is it like in the building? I have projects to work on but am not going to travel 40 miles 1 way if it is not possible to comfortably work.
Due to the extent of the storm, repairs are still in someone’s “queue”. Personally, I was working in the 104 Workshop this morning, and it didn’t seem too bad.
However – nothing has really changed from the last time you were here.
You haven’t said where you want to work. Generally: The area that is in the front of 104 is perfectly comfortable. That stretches from creative arts to the common room. Once you move into 3D Fab and Electronics it’s bearable but obvious that something isn’t right. The entire rear of the two suites (ceramics to automotive) are pretty warm.
I remember you mostly work on the tables in front of personal storage. If that’s the plan then I’d say if you weren’t comfortable a week ago then you won’t be these days.
Thanks for asking! I need to use the wood shop, machine shop and jewelry/small metals lab. I was up about 3 weeks ago and the wood shop was unbearable.
Same temp, different day.
Any news yet? ETA?
(Having MS means I’m usually house/work/mall-bound for nearly 1/2 the year, was really stoked to have another “safe” place to go during the summer
)
So – here’s a fuller story of where we are now. The north/102 side is much less affected. It’s only down one A/C unit, and that’s in the warehouse. It does feel warmer out there. If you had work you wanted to do, you can always come to this side to cool down. The front lobby feels quite cold. And if you’re really hot, the Cleaning Supply Closet is down-right chilly. If you’re just want to hang out, either the North Lobby Classroom and the Common Room are cool. I mean, I’ve got a little personal fan, but that’s because I’m post-menopausal, and everything is better with a fan.
The 104 warehouse (that Will is complaining about) is the worst off. That side is down 3 units. It’s definitely warm back there. The Lecture Hall is Hot, although Interactive isn’t bad. CA feels about the same as it always has. The Galley seems to be getting plenty of AC.
And – the 104 warehouse is cooler than the outdoors. I managed to take a class last Friday night and Saturday morning without dripping sweat.
I’m going to start nudging folks to see exactly where we stand. It’s got: the landlord; the insurance folks; normal difficulty getting equipment during the period of need; supply chain issues; etc. So, there is no simple answer, and it won’t be quick.
Right now we are still getting quotes for service. We were unfortunate that one vendor stopped responding to us.
We have contacted some other vendors and have the process going again (thanks to @j801496 's assistance) appreciate everyone’s patience.
It’s my understanding (albiet only cursory) that the entire HVAC supply chain is one of the hard-hit industries currently. I think I’m about to make a fairly large sale due to the fact that a client had budgeted for $400k in AC upgrades and replacement units, but can’t get the equipment.
