I don’t even know what exactly this is called. Something like gold electro plating? I’m curious what the actual name of the process to make this is and if anyone has ever done it.
What does their description say that the earrings are, metal-wise? If they are plated, they should say so.
Usually, you can buy earring parts like that from one of the big on-line jewelry suppliers, already plated. Um… Monsterslayer, Rio Grande, maybe Fire Mountain. I’m most familiar with Fire Mountain Gems, although I haven’t looked at their offerings in several years. I would probably be buying gold-filled, though. Gold filled is a mechanical plating that gives a thicker layer than electro-plating, which is pretty thin and wears off quickly.
I can’t think of the persons name but there are some YouTube videos using copper foil, solder, electro plating.
Search for electroforming. I started to buy things to do this several years ago. I’m happy to go through what I have and donate it to DMS or let someone use it.
