I was helping Russell (@Gimli) make his 10x10 this year and I realized it may need some explanation to show how cool it is. So I’m starting this thread for everyone to share their 10x10 stories as well.
This year Russell decided to step up his 10x10 art game. Last year he shot a tight group at 100 yards, this year we are taking it out to 600 yards. Here is a picture to show the distance.
Here is a video from the target pits as Russel is shooting the target. For those that have never been in the pits at a range, there is a 9 to 10 foot berm, the target is attached to a frame that you raise above the berm. This is why I can safely firm this while being shot at. I’m calling the shots over the radio, because even with a spotting scope, you can’t make out where the bullet hit.
I’m not sure how to display a video like this? I put it on youtube, I’d be willing to try and make a subtitled version that doesn’t require speakers if someone has a device that can display?
At an art show once I saw a kid slice and dice some old electronics up and it projected a video from within the cavity of his chest. I’m sorry that I can’t remember what it was.
I thought about it unwittingly for days. Then I sat down this evening and did it in about an hour. The theme will come as little surprise.
Because I knew I wasn’t going to pull off some grand masterpiece, the idea was to execute in a reasonably short period of time because otherwise it wasn’t going to get done.
Well I did not take pictures of the process but essentially I turned 12 little flowers, goblets or whatever they are and picked 10 that fit the best. All made from the pecan logs in the back of the Woodshop. Now I just have to drop it off before my flight outta here.
