Hey all, I need some help identifying a part that goes into a Milwaukee drill gearbox. I bought the drill broken and am trying to repair it, it’s missing this part and nothing else. I’d rather not buy the whole gearbox since OEM costs ~$90 and third party is still ~$40. First, here are the details:
Drill Model: 2606-20
Gearbox Part Number: 14-29-2607
Here are several Photos of the part:
As far as I can tell the purpose of the part is to act as sort of a one way “valve” for torque, only allowing the shank of the drill to be turned from one side (the motor side, as opposed to the chuck side). The part rests towards the chuck end of the gearbox above a couple of springs and below the planetary gears.
This is a youtube video talking about the gearbox assembly with the part talked about in detail at 0:30, however it is never named.
It seems that this mechanism is unique to Milwaukee since gearboxes from other brands don’t seem to have it. I’ve spent a total of five hours prowling through youtube, parts guides, and catalogues; and the closest I’ve gotten is several videos showing the part but never naming it.
While I am mechanically inclined, I’ve never seen a part like this; nor do I know what it’s called. If someone can help me out in identifying it so I can find it, that would be absolutely wonderful! Good luck.
