Has anyone made a clock?

I’d like to make a battery-powered wall clock but I want to buy the movement kit. Haven’t decided if I want to make hands so that’s still TBD. Can anyone recommend a specific kit for the movement? My only requirement is that it needs to be absolutely silent.

I’m also making a wall clock. Want it to be outdoors but having trouble finding weather resistant hardware. Lots of cheap options on Amazon, can’t really see much difference in any of them. Interested to see if you find anything

WoodCraft sells some with an option for the thickness of the face. However, reviews are mixed.

Because of the way the gearing and quartz step motor works, a completely silent battery powered quartz movement is not likely. The step motor always makes a slight click as the seconds advance. In addition, most of the battery powered quartz movements available are relatively uniform thickness and form factor. The primary differences relate to the diameter and design of the hour and minute pinions and of the secondhand post. This is how they accommodate for face thickness . Making hands is not particularly difficult, particularly for someone of your skill. You would need to make appropriately sized and broached bushings to mount the hands onto the appropriate pinions. One of them is usually “D” shaped and has to be filed if you cannot harvest and use the existing hand bushings . The retaining nut is supplied with the movement and is an odd thread not found in tap and die sets . Take a look a the back of the clock I made for above the sherlines. It is a standard movement .
