Please take time to remember those that have taken up the sword and shield and never returned, those that have picked it up, carried, and have passed it on to those now future Veterans.

Thank you all for service

I operated the nuclear reactor on the Los Angeles class submarine USS Groton (SSN-694) (decommissioned in the late 90’s) from 1979 to 1983.

While I’m posting there is something I always wanted to say. I probably had the cushiest skate duty of anyone in an air conditioned workspace with regular sleep and showers and regular meals including pizza night on Saturdays.

There are vets out there that didn’t have much of that. Guys that got shot at on a regular basis, including my late father, not just now and then, but lots of times and then volunteered to go back under fire because it was their duty. These are the guys that really deserve the credit and the guys I tip my hat to.

Thanks to the combat vets!

I’m with Terrance. I am technically a combat vet in that I served in the combat zone during OIF/OEF, but I never got shot at and while we were always vigilant against possible incursions and potential threats, I never experienced the trauma and danger many of my fellow service men and women did. Some are still living with the trauma today.

I salute all of them for they are truly American heroes for putting their life in harms way. Thanks to all of you for your service. I especially want to thank the families of those who gave their all for the ideals and freedoms this country stands for. Their service should not ever go unappreciated.

My younger bother had the coolest job in the military - he used to land on the south lawn and pick up George and Laura Bush.
