Ham equipment, fresh from the garage to you

sorry. no exact specks, only what I remember from what my dad told me about them and wrestling them into the back of the truck without a tommy loader.

variac power supply. its shiny and heavy and has nobs and meters

high power transmitter power supply. it must be 200 lbs. full of transformers and tubes, and dust.

40 or more feet of transmitter feed line coax, its about an inch wide with connectors on both ends. Its very much a garden hose.

where should i put it / identify it? I will relieve my truck of it this Thursday.

@hykkonen do we have a use for this you can foresee or would this be better served going to electronics?

I cant say… my dad used the high power transmitter for 25 years.

Ken I was tagging another member to look over it.

Without a list of equipment it is hard to make any recommendation; however, I suggest that we hold on to the equipment until the next committee meeting and then let the group decide disposition.

Personally, I am intrigued by the possibility of a full legal limit amplifier, and the old tube amplifiers have a significant advantage over newer solid state because they are much more immune to antenna mismatch. The additional power could also help us overcome some of the limitations of our antenna setup.

Also, the electronics groups seems to have less interest in ‘antique’ equipment. I know they even mentioned getting rid of the analog scopes they have now in favor of the new DSO’s.

Well after looking at it this morning,I was mistaken. It doesn’t include a transmitter, just a power supply.

I vote to let electronics have disband if not on the member give away shelf.

I doubt that any electronics in a case that rusted are going to be worth getting to work again.

The gear should be given to electronics or placed on the member give away shelf.

I do appreciate folks wanting to give gear to the amateur radio committee. However, old gear is old gear and will generally not be worth the effort to restore or put to use. We should take a look, but be very careful about accepting anything just to be accruing gear.
