HAAS - NICE CAULK! - maybe just ok Caulk. - leak rectified hopefully

The HAAS had another leak present itself a few days ago. The leak is between the chip tray and Y-Axis.

I received sikaflex 1a yesterday and will be sealing it in the next day or so.

Any HAAS user needs to clean the inside of the HAAS post-use then wipe up the oil/coolant on the floor, then spray the affected area w/ simple green, and wipe again. Let’s keep it as clean as possible until I can fix the leaks.

All,
Hopefully the conclusion of the leaky HAAS. At least for a while. The tape stuck well while I was removing it, while the caulk was wet….hopefully that is a good sign.

Steps:

  1. shut off the UV Light
  2. shut off the recirc pump (in that order 24 hrs ago)
  3. scraped and gouged out the old caulk
  4. cleaned areas to be caulked with 50/50 simple green
  5. cleaned areas to be caulked with acetone after dry
  6. heated areas with a super sweet heat gun
  7. cleaned with acetone again
  8. taped with painter tape
  9. caulked
  10. smoothed
  11. removed tape

The caulk:

Does the Haas need some time before use?

Caulk isn’t drying. We’re going to keep the windows open, put a fan, and leave it alone for another couple hours.

Some of that Sikaflex remains tacky like silly putty-ish. Butyl caulk is that way too.

@hon1nbo the guys on the forum I learned of the Sikaflex 1a on said they ran after an hour……the sikaflex 1a use was confirmed on the HAAS site. I’ll check it again this afternoon.
