So we only got 5 pallets this year. Last year was the year of samoas. This is the year of the dosi do. All “expired” 9/1/2014. Free to take.
Are there any Thin Mints?
Sadly no. Not this year. There are dose dos, tagalongs and samoas
I need me some of those Samoas.
Girl Scout crack rock… mMmmMmM
I still have a few boxes of cookies from last year, and then I picked up more from a VFW outpost a few weeks ago!
I usually eat those.
what’s the back story on these?
If I had to guess, the cookies are still probably good, but they’ve passed the FDA expiration date, so GSA can’t sell them, but they can still donate them to a nonprofit like DMS.
But seeing as how the VP is such a VIP, shouldn’t we keep the PC on the QT? Because if it leaks to the VC, he could end up an MIA, and then we’d all be put on KP.
We need to use the forklift and see how tall of a cookie tower we can make
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I concur with this photo.
@Travis_Zinger: If the source is the same as last year, my understanding is that these are from the American Red Cross and their stash of “post-donation reward cookies”/“please don’t pass out” cookies. The Red Cross rotates out their stock of “expired” cookies periodically and gives them to non-profits. Apparantly a lot went to shelters and things last year. I know I took about half a palatte to the Resource Center food pantry as well.
Nathan.
I can’t decide if that is a look of awe or horror.
I really enjoyed the first few boxes of samoas that I ate. Thanks to the VFW, I was also able to enjoy several boxes of “Toffee-tastic.”
I gave out boxes to my friends, neighbors and co-workers, even those who threatened me with bodily harm if I gave them any. One of my neighbors did say that he greatly enjoyed the thin mints I gave him.
Correct.
I work at the Red Cross and they received a new shipment (they expire 9/1/2015) which they use for shelters that open, canteening house fires and other things. They then try to get rid of the old ones and pass them off to other orgs that may want them, and well, I grab them before they go in the trash and bring them to you folks. If you know of an organization that wants them feel free to take them.
Enjoy!!
