I’m new to DMS and I want to give beginner lessons on 3D modelling using Blender. I have done 3D art for about 5 years at this point as a hobby and I would love to meet other 3D artists. The class would be very beginner focused, focusing on just modeling and maybe shaders or easy animations. More intermediate classes would come in the future.
Would yall be interested in something like that, and if so, what would be the best day to do it?
I have decent amount of experience with older 3d software, and I personally would love help just getting used to the UI and workflow just to be able to do basic low poly models.
I’m used to the old quad view (top, side, front, perspective) and doing a lot of vertex by vertex placement/editing, and so far I have no idea how i would approach similar tasks in Blender. I’m mostly familiar with the modeler in Lightwave.
I would absolutely be interested! I’ve always wanted to learn Blender. My schedule is typically pretty flexible, though I try to avoid weekday evenings if possible.
I am interest as on again off again blender person. Would we be using blender cam?https://blendercam.com/
As this would help in the future at makerspace for the generation of gcode for xcarve etc… All be it i am advocating for the teaching of the blender cam interface as a starting point and there are more recent interfaces.
I’m interested. Weekday evenings work best for me. I’ve barely scratched the surface on Blender. My interests are primarily in creating 3D objects for printing.
Hey y’all quick update. Spoke with IT today and they will be working on getting Blender for a class in the computer lab. Class will be happening in hopefully 2-4 weeks.
This is something I am also interested in.
I spend most of my time in Blender making precision models using Geometry Nodes for 3d printing, so I’d like to know more about some of blenders other features.
I went to an artist talk at the Nasher Sculpture center last year. The Hass brothers. They modeled this as discs and springs in Blender, had a video of it spinning and flopping around, they picked a frame from the video, and made the sculpture, I don’t remember if this one was cast or formed bronze sheet metal but some of their other stuff was definitely formed and shaped and welded bronze with a patina, it was a fascinating talk.
If you or anyone else is interested in scientific/data/engineering/medical visualization then Houdini is another powerful tool in that space. For example this talk from NASA.
