I’m trying to etch some mugs on the Fusion laser with the rotary tool.
It’s a little hard to see in the attached image, but I did the mug on the left first. Toward the “end(left)” there was some leftover coating. I tried to fix it by slowing the speed from 50% to 35%, but it got worse (mug on the right).
Did it engrave in two steps - the letter outline first and then a 2nd pass to fill in the letters? If so, Try just one pass. I’ve found that once it comes back to do the 2nd pass, things just get a little off. It turns into a huge error if you’re trying to do something all the way around. Also, I’ve found that if you don’t use the little wheel clamp on the inside of the object (with things like water bottles, you just can’t), it makes the shifting problem even worse.
Thanks for the response. Yeah, I’ve seen the same thing you described.
Unfortunately, this was just one pass, and I did use the wheel clamp, so that’s not the source of the problem.
