I took a handful of the pen blanks and I’m so happy to have them. I also got one bizarre cross-cut piece that I’m sure no one else can use but it’s just perfect for what I have in mind. Thank you very much!
I remember a visit to the warehouse where you were loading rackmount power supplies and wondering aloud if it was a switcher or linear then pronouncing it’s linear with some strain in your voice as you hefted it.
Yeah…one of Fred’s side gigs was working on large high current HP pwr splys. His test load was a large carbon plate rheostat…
Somebody had visions of using a pwr sply for electroplating.
I have several assorted power supplies from Fred’s warehouse. A few of them are high voltage power supplies ranging from 48-200v at several amps and several that are 1000v+. Most are old linear type supplies that weigh a ton. I need to find homes for some of them as I thin down the pile of stuff in storage.
Would anyone be interested in AMX home automation equipment? A little long in the tooth but in good condition. Not recommended for new projects though.
There’s a few more boxes I didn’t show.
I ordered a Meanwell 48v 10A power supply for running the 3 smaller servos on the Staubli arm, then we were going to build a diode bridge to convert 120v AC wall power to 169v DC for the 3 large servos. But if you have a linear power supply that is suitable we’d happily take it off your hands.
I need to open up Talk more often! I wish I’d read about this earlier!
You’d be surprised how many of those components get used when building a Time Machine…
Guess it’s time to head up there again, now that the weather and gas prices are more compatible.
I grabbed all the resistors I could from the box I took home from the freebie shelf to fill up the small bins here at my shop then rehomed the remaining resistors to another person. They also wanted the HV caps that were in there so it was good they were going to where they would be used.
Last week I bought a large lot of components, including a bin of 7-segment LEDs, including singles, duals, and triples (188 and 888.) If anyone needs some for repair work or custom builds, ping me and we can do some horse trading.
