Yeah we have been working on this on the back end. I was waiting until we had the details worked out before putting it out there.
IE it took my approval about a month to go through. The next few we sent in are at about 3 weeks now.
Alternatively, they have the maker license for a year at 24$, not sure if it is a quicker process or not.

I’m fairly certain it’s immediately available after purchase and the current price is $48 / year or $15 / month . SOLIDWORKS for Makers

Does it run on Mac yet? (native mode)
The maker version is limited.
I HATE that they don’t have the tracker bar, so you can’t go back in your design timeline if something doesn’t work out.
You also need an internet connection to use it.
We are an educational facility. I hope we can get the educational version again.

We are neither an accredited educational institution nor a private career school. I believe that’s the standard SolidWorks uses for an educational license.

I personally haven’t been able to figure out their makerspace version…I’m still solidly in FreeCAD.

We used to give us the Edu version(a number of licenses). That changed in the past few months.

I setup my makerspace acct 6 days ago and awaiting to be approve to get the MakerSpace Lic.
I like to get the SolidWorks, I have some projects to work on and I can help others out on thier projects.

you can get the Makerspace annual lic for solidworks now. I did the registration on the 12th and got my lic yesterday the 20th.
I talked to them on Tuesday. Yesterday everyone I know of that submitted for a license received it. So it would seem they may have fixed the process. We are documenting the process to make a guide on how to go about the request and installation.

I finally got my email that includes the link to renew. Since I had previously set up a personal account with Dassault, they managed to find me and send the email to both my personal address as well as my makerspace address. I’ve been trying to open Solidworks without success. I’ve uninstalled and have tried to reinstall, again without success. I’ll be looking for a guide to maybe show me what I don’t happen to know. Mind you, I’m not in a hurry to get on Solidworks, though I have started trudging up the learning curve for FreeCAD.
Do we need to use a makerspace email in order to register for solidworks? If so, how do we get one? Also, what do we put in the “company” portion of the registration? Is there a specific way it needs to be formatted?
You already have a Makerspace email. Every member has one. You will need to use that email, if you don’t they have know way of knowing if you are a member of the Makerspace.
Put in Dallas Makerspace for the “company“
Your specific email is your username @ dallasmakerspace.org.
Those who maybe reading this, you will need to look up your email often it is just your username.

Tim, just letting you know that as of 7:30 this morning, Solidworks has not yet sent me a link to reset my password after we tried around 6 yesterday afternoon.
Finally got my SW to install and run. But I had to forget everything I thought I knew to make it happen. Their gameplan is way different than it used to be.
I agree… The Makerspace version is so different
How long does it usually take to get approved for the license? I’m going on almost two weeks now.
It took 10 day or 2 weeks including weekends for me
