I have been working on improving these clips for several months. Why you might ask? I believe filament de-spooling is what causes tangles within the spool. The trick is to stop it before it happens. Which is easier said than done. I will toss a small bag of clips in the tool drawer next time am there. Of course, a new spool doesn’t have room to put a clip on the edge of the spool, So I superglue a clip backwards to control balky plastic as shown below (clip shown is an earlier version). Superglue is your friend, until its not.
