In light of the C128 system we’re going to have available in the interactive computer museum; we would like to hear from you on which is your favorite software and/or game that you would like to see at the space doing for commodore series?
Epyx Winter Games.
CP/M and some of the development tools. Much of it has been placed in public domain.
Oh heavens… the list… so huge…
If we have a 1541 disk drive we need the program which makes it sing “Daisy… Daisy…”
Games to play…
Beach Head (I and II)
Ballblazer
Impossible Mission
Deflektor
International Karate +
Jumpman
Archon
Forbidden Forest
Barbarian
Lords Of Conquest
and M.U.L.E. GOTTA DO 4-PLAYER!!!
Games like Defender Of The Crown, Ultima III/IV, Infiltrator, Elite, Overlord/Supremacy, etc. are all great but tie up the machine a long time.
I really like the list @nickdangerous put up. I would only add Raid on Bungeling Bay (but admittedly it takes FOREVER to load).
I take it the C128 will be the first highlighted system?
While it is here, perhaps we can build an SD-card hard drive emulator for it?
I forget the name of the cartridge, but my friend had one that would essentially dump all memory to disk and turn it into a program that would load up at that state (as you can imagine, this was used for TOTALLY legitimate purposes).
A version of that with a library of stuff at it’s disposal to load onto RAM would be another way to skin that cat (and avoid all of the intentional bad sectors issues etc.)
Isepic? That was used to crack a few.
I have a couple of 1571 drives if you are interested in using them …
I do not have the cables for them.
Dang, found a page based upon that name, but don’t think that was it. It was blue and yellow physically if I remember correctly.
This whole page was a trip down memory lane: http://www.c64copyprotection.com/
I thought I would also bring up these in this thread … some magazines online now having to do with 64/128
How about

You can play an online version here …
Sadly not completely, that would be the iMac then followed by a pair of Timex 1000 but the commodore series can be considered the first featured after the inception of a committee. So just as historically important.
Building an SD-card emulator of the 1541 drive is a great idea!
Thanks everyone! There’s a lot of great titles and great ideas.
Personally for me I’d say hacker and hacker 2 plus a few more classic pen and paper style games that where published in a few magazines where some of my favorites for the day.
As for building our own 1541 sd emulator, would anyone know of a good source for schematics?
Plus any docs on the bus interface?
I’m thinking we could either aquire a wifi modem or build one using the esp8266 since it supports at commands over ttl out of the box.
I was looking for information about the 1541 to see whether we should consider doing this and found that it is apparently pretty well documented. Slow, complicated, but fairly well understood: 1541 – Why so complicated | ilesj's blog
Unless we think we can improve on what is already out there, such build one more compatible with copy-protected software or fast loaders and such, it would be better to just buy a commercial one like this: 1541 Ultimate, original vs Ultimate-II | ilesj's blog
GEOS.
Draco and I were talking and this came up. GEOS was a graphical interface for the C64. The company went on to release GeoWorks for IBM PC compatibles. GeoWorks is probably best known as the graphical interface used by early versions of the America Online access software.
Geos was amazing for its time. Gem was great as well. I have OpenGem on all my dos machines and there is an open source rewrite of GEOS 2.0 on Github that we can get setup for the Commodore series
I just realized I have the Commodore 128 system disks
I do not know if they work … but we can try them and hopefully copy them to something that cannot be permanently damaged…
Here are some things we should try out if we get CP/M running …

Turbo Pascal is in the list
