Sorry i did not see embedded workshop on the events calender…When is it and how much? TJ

Wait, what happened? I’ve been dedicated to the “Embedded” workshop for two years now! What night did Rusty say?

Said he was moving the date… I did not know how much to bring and wether a date was decided

The Interactive Classroom is not available on Wednesdays. The only thing changing is the day of the week.

I have interactive classroom reserved from 630-900 PM on this upcoming Friday, 6-9-17, and my class is all about embedded development. Specifically, this Friday’s topic is on using LabVIEW for Arduino.

While my programming environment is a little bit different, the concept is the same…we load our personal code into embedded system and operate/debug/fix/break things. This week I was hoping to demonstrate altimul (Pololu’s gyroscope/altimeter product) working in conjunction with Arduino, and was also hoping to demonstrate control of my motorized (in both directions) wheel. I happen to have a PWM break out board, a board with populated analog electric PWM wheel motor power delivery FETs, and two battery options for providing 60 V required of wheel and its drivers (lead acid and lithium polymer). With these items, it should be possible to build an electric unicycle, motorcycle, or even robot. This wheel can go off-road, btw, so the yard or a hiking trail is good enough for this wheel. Curbs will be too much. I would love to have a lidar, and I am sure others would have some great ideas of what to do with this stuff.

I would love to be better incorporated in embedded crew. We could add an agenda item to the friday night free training to talk about how to incorporate LabVIEW programming of embedded systems into the mix, up to you guys. But either way, I would love to have folks from embedded getting involved in the LabVIEW/Arduino class. Its free, so please RSVP and come to the class.

Maybe its even worth an up front (prior to Friday) meet to work with the hardware so as to achieve a nicer demo? Any takers, please feel free to respond or PM.

I’m interested, day isn’t critical,

@photomancer et al I’ll move this discussion to a fresh thread, and outline what I have and where I am trying to get for the Friday night demo…

The date and time will be one of the following:

  • Sunday, June 25, 3 PM to 5 PM
  • Thursday, June 29, 7 PM to 9 PM
  • Friday, June 30, 7 PM to 9 PM

Vote, people, vote.

Rusty tells me Thursday is not good due to people wandering into the room during tours. Comments?

Well close the door and put a sign “Class in progress”

I get that the tour must go on, but people can have some common courtesy right? Or is that too much to expect?

That’s true of everything held on Thursday - must soldier on through or Thursday will be a dead day for classes.

Putting a sign on the door, with name of class and what is being covered would also be good advertising for Tour night.

On second thought, I reopened the poll at the top. There are actually two questions. When I should reschedule my class and which night should the Embedded Workshop series use after that.

I think Thursday should be OK. If the tour guide lets people stand near the door and observe for a few minutes in silence, that would not be too much of a distraction. It may actually be of value for visitors to see what a class looks like.

Unfortunately, the Interactive Classroom is gone for Thursday, June 29. Unless there is major objection today, I will schedule for Sunday, June 25. The purple classroom is still available for Thursday, but I do not want to put a limit on the number of seats.

Uder the spirit if the only stupdi question is one not asked, What is the embedded workshop?

The Embedded Workshop is an ongoing series of classes focusing on topics in embedded system development.

Past classes include:

I had been toying with ordering some 8x8 LED display units for the multiplexing class because it would be more fun and interesting than a few loose LEDs, but decided to just go with the class as I had originally planned it. It is scheduled for Sunday, June 25 at 3P to 5P and should appear on the calendar in three days.
