If there are any funds for hand tools, we could use some in the Electronics Lab
These are inexpensive, insulated, and made in Germany:

They would make a great start.

A supply of common consumables like heat shrink would be good also
Would these work?
Don’t know their quality as compared to Bondhus, but they should work fine. A couple sets would be very nice.
Be sure to check out the local dealers, too. For example, Micro Center:
Yes, but those are not insulated screwdrivers like the others we’re looking at.
I have some director funds available so I went ahead and purchased 3 sets from the amazon link. I can bring them to the space Tuesday.
Simply awesome! Thanks!
How about a couple of these magnifiers/lights for the other two work tables that don’t have them? The light on here could double for a light for the inspection scope at the soldering table too.
$44 isn’t bad
And power strips for each desk.
Right now there are surge protectors plugged into surge protectors…not good…
These have 12 outlets over 4 feet (about the width of each desk), with ONE power switch to kill the whole strip…

Those do not have any surge protection in them.
They will either need to be modified with MOVs or a different strip should be found.
Harbor Freight usually has similar strips for about half that price. The HF ones are easy to add three MOVs to. I’ve done it to several of them.
Well, I doubt that the crappy “surge protectors” in the 'lec room now are worth much at all… But I am all for spending whatever money 'lec is comfortable with to get good ones… If someone is comfortable with the MOV setup, I could solder some into whatever strips we get.
Actually both of these items are on our next shopping list. Just waiting for some class funds to post to our fund. if not I will ask the board for some $$ for basic gear.
I guess I’d better get my honorarium request submitted…
No worries Richard, thanks for earning the bread!
The BOD much rather likes requests in the hundred dollar range than the $4,000 range.
