[COMPLETED] Electrician on site ALL WEEK (Monday June 8th through Friday June 12th). Intermittent Power Outages Likely until he's done

NOTE: The electrician is at the Space today (and possibly tomorrow, too)…

Good news is: We’ll have more outlets in 3D Fab soon!

Bad news is: The electrician will be working in the room (and in others areas at the Space) which means intermittent power outages while he works on circuits in (and connected to) the 3D Fab Room ~ which means no 3D printing until he’s done.

No ETR at this time… let’s just be safe and say they’ll be down all day (and possibly tomorrow).

I’ll post an update when he’s done.

Thanks!

Quick update:

The work in the 3D Fab Room has begun; but, was not able to be completed before the electrician called it a day.

For the rest of the day/night, it should be OK to print (same ‘risks’ as usual… make sure the printers don’t get bumped, a bad storm rolling through might cause power issues, etc…).

TOMORROW MORNING (Tuesday, June 9th)… Electrical work in the 3D Fab Room will continue.
Please do not use the equipment in the room until an update is posted in this thread - otherwise you assume any risk to failed prints / work on the computers that may occur as a result of the work the electrician will be doing.

Thanks for your patience and understanding!

The electricians are NOT going to be here on Tuesday, but promise to be in bright and early on Wed.

Will the electricians install a plug suitable for the freeze-dehydrator? Maybe also he could add another circuit breaker in the fuse box?

There is a circuit on the plan for that wall.

@StanSimmons Thanks for posting the update on the status of the electrical work for the 3D Fab Room…

ALL… Thanks for your continued patience! The electrician was due back this morning; but, was called out for an emergency from what I understand. Due to them having to reschedule, the printers are avail today after all; but will not be avail tomorrow - until the electrical work in the 3D Fab Room has been completed.

Thanks again!

The most recent update is… The electrician is STILL not finished.

The lines for power have been dropped, and the new outlets have been installed; BUT, the outlets are not ‘hot’ (live/active) yet. We received a report of sporadic connectivity with the printers today; since the electricians were still there, there’s no way to be sure that there weren’t momentary hiccups (lags/surges) in the power in the building as they were doing what they were working on.

That being said, I’ve been advised that the electrical work “should” be complete by end of day tomorrow (Friday, June 12th). Since it is not complete yet, the 3D printers should NOT be used while the electricians are working in the building.

Hopefully tomorrow’s update will be a better one!

Thanks again for your continued patience!

The electricians have finished installing a pair of 20A-120v Quad outlets for the 3D Fab room. One is centered on the lobby wall and the other is near the window on the Purple Classroom wall.

Each of these quad outlet boxes have their own 20A circuit breaker, and will really help with the power loading in the 3D Fab room

Enjoy!
